TCS have helped ECPAT Sweden with a system for reporting sexual exploitation of children

ECPAT Sweden engaged TCS to build a tool for the public to report suspected sexual exploitation of children and enable ECPAT to manage notifications more efficiently

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has contributed time, resources and volunteer hours to ECPAT Sweden, a global network of organizations working to end the sexual exploitation and abuse of children worldwide. As part of a pro bono project, TCS developed the ECPAT Hotline, an online reporting platform where members of the public are able to report tips about suspected child sexual abuse.

TCS developed the platform for ECPAT Hotline, which simplifies the process of reporting suspected sexual abuse, while enabling ECPAT to more efficiently manage all received tips. The new platform also makes it easier for ECPAT to produce accurate statistics on documented child sexual abuse.

"We are extremely proud to be involved in creating a valuable digital reporting tool that can streamline and accelerate the critical fight against child sexual abuse. Assisting ECPAT in their efforts to prevent the exploitation of children and young people was a top priority for TCS as a company, and all of our employees", says Avinash Limaye, Head of TCS in the Nordics.

ECPAT Sweden is part of the international ECPAT network that cooperates with authorities, companies and other organizations and was originally founded in Thailand. The organization runs the support line "Your ECPAT" a safe place where children and young people under the age of 18 can turn with questions about sexual vulnerability. ECPAT also has a support line and knowledge bank for adults who have questions about children and sexual abuse. ECPAT works with opinion building and advocacy work, and cooperates with authorities, companies and other organizations.

"It is important to work against the spread of abusive material. As long as pictures and videos are being spread, the abuse will not end and therefore the abusive material must be taken down as soon as possible. New technology helps us discover more images and videos that can be taken down", says Anna Karin Hildingson Boqvist, Secretary General of ECPAT.
