Press release -

This year we take TEDxÖstersund one step further

For this year’s follow up to last years success, we will open up TEDxÖstersund to a biggger audience and we will be able to raise the quality of the production. The theme for this year is #Gamechanging and the speakers are from different corners of the world and they have one thing in common – they are game changers.

In February of 2015 the inaugural TEDxÖstersund featured speakers such as Ashkan Fardost, Fia Gulliksson and Emma Arnesson and the event was an huge success. This years follow up to last years success is on September 17th. We will open up the event to more audience and we will be able to raise the quality of the production.

About 300 tickets will be released on August 26 at 11 am. Last year the tickets were sold out in a matter of 20 minutes. We will also collaborate with the local organisation Hej Främling! to be able to offer 50 spots to our newly arrived friends in the close by asylum accommodations. We will keep the fairly low ticket price to be able to offer everyone to enjoy and experience TEDxÖstersund.

This year's theme #gamechanging sprung from the manifesto we wrote last year . We settled on precisely those words in a shared philosophy of momentum of why TEDx is important for our region. Our speakers are all from different parts of the world, but they all have one thing in common - game changing - they are here to inspire change from both a global and local perspective.

Some of our speakers are:
Rasmus Nutzhorn – Chief Executive Officer of Kessel Solar. Speaker. Advisor.
Karin Adelsköld – Comedian, Speaker, Journalist
Jakob Lindvall – CEO, Founder Idea2Innovation Sweden AB
Helena Nordström – Founder and CEO Placebrander AB

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into action; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

#WhereIcomefrom

... true enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, motivated and committed people have chosen a life in Sweden’s rural areas. We call this place home. We are part of an emerging future and we want to showcase that future to the world. We are the ones chasing the freedom to choose where we want to live and work. We embrace change and innovation with an open mind and we are the game changers who are here to stay.

This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
