Summit - cultural exchanges with China's art elite visiting Sweden

Platonic gardens filled with beautiful flowers and animals that look like they are alive. Heavenly sights of beauty interspersed with depictions of picturesque villages surrounded by enchanting nature. This is how you describe paintings of Mr. Fu Youxin, President of Nanjing, Yingtian Art Academy. The Swedish artist Kjell Wallman, who has won numerous Chinese awards, has invited one of China's greatest art and cultural groups to Sweden to strengthen ties and open doors. Mr. Fu Youxin, President of Nanjing, Yingtian Art Academy, and accompanying parties arrived in Sweden last Friday. After a guided tour of Stockholm on the weekend, they continued their journey towards the High Coast for a concluding stop in Örnsköldsvik.

Mr. Fu Youxin is president of Nanjing, Yingtian Art Academy, a Life Member of the China Arts Society, Vice-Chairman and Prime First-Class Artist of the Calligrapher and Artist Association of China - and more. Mr. Fu Youxin has exhibited in more than ten countries such as Japan and Singapore and has received dozens of prizes including: 1st in show at the "First International Arts Exhibition in Japan." This is the first time he is visiting Sweden. - Before I came to Sweden, I did not know that Sweden was so beautiful. There's so much greenery, beautiful buildings, and clean water. Moreover, there are so many friendly people. I am very impressed and grateful for the invitation, says Mr. Fu Youxin.

The artist Kjell Wallman has a colourful background. He grew up in Olofström and spent the first twelve years of his life there before he ended up in Örnsköldsvik. Kjell Wallman has lived in Helsinki and Ekenäs, Finland and is now back in Olofström - yet he has the entire world before him as his canvass. - By staying in Olofström, I have access to the whole of southern Sweden. It is close to everything. You can go to Malmö or Copenhagen for the day, says Kjell Wallman. He has had exhibitions in various places and has received prizes for his art both in Europe and China.

- I have exhibited in China's National Museum, The Forbidden City, and now I have a new exhibition in Beijing in September. The Chinese like my paintings, says Kjell Wallman. Through common contacts I have had the opportunity to host Mr. Fu Youxin in Sweden and I am pleased and grateful for this inspiring meeting, continues Kjell Wallman.

Kjell Wallman and Mr. Fu Youxin, with their accompanying parties spent their weekend seeing a number of Stockolm's main sights whilst also enjoying culinary experiences and taking part in business meetings. - No matter what happens in politics, society, with the economy, or religion, art builds a sacred path and opens new doors, says Kjell Wallman. Art comes from the heart and transcends across everything, continues Kjell Wallman.

Painting unites the two artists. Kjell Wallman says: - An artist's soul recognises another artist's soul and we have fun together. To mix the oriental platonic soul and the Scandinavian countries' small and raw Viking soul is exciting. 5,000 year old art and painting meet Wallman's Viking forests and darkness. Mr. Fu Youxin fills in: - Kjell Wallman is an honest man. He speaks freely and directly from his heart. Wallman has a really different and interesting style. I hope that people worldwide will have the opportunity to see Wallman's art. We speak different languages and have different backgrounds and different cultures, yet our appreciation of art is the same, continues Mr. Fu Youxin.

The visit to Stockholm ended at the genuine and highly appreciated Chinese restaurant called Fair View House at the corner of Krukmakargatan and Timmermansgatan it is one of the few restaurants that serves Hong Kong specialties. The couple, Man Fuk Cheung and Man Lee Peggie, running the restaurant really provided a memorable culinary experience.

Mr. Fu Youxin and Kjell Wallman continued their journey up to the High Coast where various cultural visits and tours were arranged. Among other things, they rode a high-speed boat and visited Ulvön. Mr. Fu Youxin was so inspired with the surroundings at Ulvön that he began to paint on site. Traditional Chinese painting was blended with water colours on special Chinese silk paper.

The visit ended with events and meetings in Örnsköldsvik before their journey back to China. Mr. Fu Youxin and his accompanying party left Sweden happy and with a strong desire to return soon.
