The race has started

After the briefing and map the distribution yesterday the team has struggled to bring down all the material in the race supplied (small) drums.
In all, it appears the competition includes much navigation and a whole lot of altitude meters uphill on the bike the first day and night.

But the most crucial seems anyway to be a dark zone (meaning that in a number of hours at night the teams may not paddle without they need to wait for the daylight) in the final 78 km kayak section.

The race starts with a technical sprint orienteering stage around Avila expected to take an hour for the fastest teams.  Then the teams go to the bikes for a 4 hour leg, before another orienteering section. The first part of the orienteering is a 12km section for the team, and the second part  - 6km legs which the teams will split up into pairs to complete..

The race continues then with a bike section and a night lake kayak.
