Howard Dell Famed Sportsman Heading To Sweden

It wasn't long ago that famed professional football player, Olympian and world class coach Howard Dell was embracing a successful career in Hollywood. He began starring in numerous films and TV shows, training some of the worlds best athletes in 4 different sports and life was good. Then one day during a routine exam the doctors discovered that Howard had a very rare liver disease known as PSC. PSC effects about 3 in 100,000 people. Further investigation revealed he also had Wilson's disease. The only such case ever recorded. Life expectancy was short at this point. So Howard sold everything he had and borrowed every dime he could and travelled he world trying to stay alive. Reason being, the medical community has nothing for PSC or Wilson's disease. No cure and no evidence based treatment protocols. He survived 3 years and 8 months till his liver failed. About 3 years and 5 months longer than the medical community gave him to survive. During this time he underwent 11 surgical procedures including a double hernia operation. Then in Nov 2009 as he was living out his last days he received a life saving transplant.

Howard's recovery and rehabilitation have been nothing short of inspirational. He tells his story as part of his Corporate motivational speaking tour and loves to promote organ donation. Contemplating returning back to acting and the coaching world, he is also writing a book about this experience and piecing together his footage for an upcoming documentary. His favorite quote is that of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "now is the time to make real the promises of your potential! Now is the time."

His success will not be measured in the number of medals or world records he sets at the games, but rather by the fact that he is reaching out, striving to meet the promises of his potential as a human being.
