Twingly Summer of Code – Reality-TV on YouTube

Four interns, six weeks, one mission; push the edge of blog search. Will they succeed? The first episode of the TV-series "Twingly Summer of Code" will go on air tonight at 6 PM GMT (10 AM in San Francisco, 19:00 in Stockholm).

One week after the public launch of the spam free blog search engine Twingly.com the company has started its next project and the development will be broadcasted daily at YouTube.

"To Twingly Summer of Code, we have recruited four ambitious interns, given them six weeks to develop a visual search engine for blogs; Twingly Blogoscope," said Martin Källström, CEO of Twingly. "Everyone can fallow what happens in the project via daily episodes on YouTube."

The episodes will be uploaded Monday to Friday at 6 PM GMT (10 AM in San Francisco, 19:00 in Stockholm) at http://summer.twingly.com/.

"Openness in this project is a way to show the daily life in the office" said Martin Källström. "Generally people are not familiar with the stimulating working atmosphere in a startup. Hopefully Twingly Summer of Code will inspire more people to join Twingly or other startups."

The final episode, when Twingly Blogoscope according to plan is ready for launch, will be aired at July 11th.

"Twingly Summer of Code is all about collaboration and pushing the limits of the technology," said Martin Källström. "It is an exciting challenge. Will they succeed? We will see, but the whole Twingly team will give them support throughout the project."

The participants in Twingly Summer of Code 2008 are:

- Helena Mischel, awarded "IT-woman of the Year 2008" by Microsoft Sweden

- Kristoffer Forsgren, blogger at Gate303.net

- Fredrik Smedberg, active in the open source project ReactOS

- Jonas Kac, former Communication Director at the Computer Science and Technology programme at Linköping Institute of Technology.
