AGNES UNVEILS CAPTIVATING MUSIC VIDEO FOR "EGO"
Following the success of "BALENCIAGA COVERED EYES" and "MILK," acclaimed Swedish pop icon Agnes is set to release the highly anticipated music video, directed by Swim Club, for her latest single "EGO" today on September 17th.
The visuals for "EGO" perfectly complement the song's themes, featuring striking imagery that plays with contrasts.
– We wanted to play with contrast – speed and stillness, recklessness and control, weirdness and power, holding on and letting go. I love mixing things up and playing with opposites in every detail: in styling, glossy against matte, chaos against precision – and we carried that into the choreography too, says Agnes. Once again, I had the privilege of working with my incredible team – every single person brought their own magic to bring this vision into life.
The disco-synth-tinged poptrack "EGO," released on September 5th, is the third single from Agnes' upcoming album. Written by Agnes in collaboration with Vincent Pontare & Salem al Fakir (Madonna, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia), Hannah Wilson (Tove Lo, The Chainsmokers), Kerstin Ljungström and Frans Bryngel (The Weeknd, Salvatore Ganacci), the song explores the liberation that comes from setting aside the ego in relationships and within oneself.
– 'EGO' was the first song I wrote for my new album. With this album, I wanted to reveal more sides of myself and highlight the opposites that can live within us and even work together. It's not about being good or bad – because we're all way more complicated and complex than the labels we give ourselves and each other.
In “EGO” Agnes is singing about putting the ego aside and letting something new take its place, both in relationships and within oneself.
– “EGO” is inspired by conversations about self-discovery and Eckhart Tolle’s lyrics about the ego. I wanted to capture the feeling that it is only when we dare to let go of control that life can surprise us.
This release continues Agnes' artistic evolution following her critically acclaimed album "Magic Still Exists," which earned her four Swedish Grammy nominations and the title of Composer of the Year in 2022. With global support from industry icons like Sam Smith, Elton John, and RuPaul, Agnes continues to push boundaries and redefine pop music.
The "EGO" music video will be available on all major platforms today.
