Boys football team from Sigtuna, Sweden, to play in Liverpool

Twenty one eleven year old boys from Sigtuna IF football team, a small town outside of Stockholm, Sweden, will visit Liverpool this week to play football against local boys of the same age. The trip will also include coaching sessions from Premier League Football coaches as well as a visit to Anfield, home of Liverpool FC, to see the reds play against West Bromwich Albion in a premier league football match. 

Helping organise the trip is Julian Stubbs from Sigtuna, Sweden. Stubbs has recently had an involvement with the city of Liverpool and given speeches there regarding the city’s branding and marketing. Stubbs said ‘Through contacts in the city we started making plans to take a boys team to Liverpool about 6 months ago. It's really exciting to see it come about.' He continued 'We really want the boys to have a special cultural experience as well with this trip. They will be playing football against boys of the same age and getting to see the city of Liverpool itself. We think it’s very important that kids of this age get such international cultural experiences.’ 

Stubbs was involved with the branding and marketing of Stockholm as The Capital of Scandinavia as well as Sigtuna, the town the boys team are coming from

He continued ‘It will be a really fun experience for the boys and we were really happy that so many were able to come on the trip. We also have as many adults coming along as well, so in total it will be a group of forty two people making the trip to Liverpool.’

Stubbs is founder of the company UP THERE, EVERYWHERE, the global cloud based agency, who are helping organise and part sponsor the trip. 

The boys, all aged eleven, are from the Sigtuna 02 football group. They wlll be playing two games against local Liverpool teams of the same age in nine-a-side games on full sized pitches. 

The four day trip will also include a tour of Anfield stadium and the club museum followed by dinner at ex Liverpool player Jamie Carragher’s Cafe Sports restaurant in Liverpool.
