Prince släpper 14 tidigare outgivna låtar – Nya albumet ”Originals” ute 7 juni
Den 7 juni släpper den bortgångne artisten och ikonen Prince det nya albumet ”Originals” exklusivt på streamingtjänsten TIDAL, från och med den 21 juni finns albumet tillgängligt hos samtliga streamingtjänster. Albumet som består av totalt 15 låtar varav 14 tidigare outgivna låtar har valts ut av Troy Carter på uppdrag av The Prince Estate och artisten JAY-Z.
Under mitten av 80-talet dominerade Prince topplistorna världen över som både låtskrivare och producent med låtar som han komponerat åt andra artister. Förutom Prince egna fullängdsalbum under samma period både skrev och spelade han in material till bland andra The Time, Vanity 6, Sheila E., Apollonia 6, Jill Jones, the Family och Mazarati. Då och då användes också Prince original demoinspelningar som masterversioner med enbart vissa mindre justeringar. Vid flera tillfällen använde artisterna också Prince demoinspelningar som direkt vägledning när de själva sen spelade in låtarna på nytt.
Flera av de ikoniska låtarna på albumet ”Originals” var anledningen till dess framgångar för de artister som sen spelade in dem, som exempelvis; Sheila E. med “The Glamorous Life” och albumet “Manic Monday”, The Bangles ”Different Light”, The Time med ”Ice Cream Castle” samt Martika med “Love… Thy Will Be Done”. Albumet visar upp en ny bild och ursprunget till samtliga låtar, bland andra Vanity 6’s “Make-Up” Jill Jones’s “Baby, You’re a Trip” och Kenny Rogers’ “You’re My Love” samt originalversionen av ”Nothing compares 2 U” som släpptes som en singel 2018.
