Changi Airport’s Inaugural World of Wines and Spirits Dazzles Connoisseurs with Auction Highlights and Catalogue of Rarities

SINGAPORE, 6 October 2022 – The excitement is building up at the inaugural World of Wines and Spirits (WOWS), created in partnership by Changi Airport Group and Lotte Duty Free. Following the initial event announcement, WOWS unveils further details about its highly anticipated silent auction and exhibition of rarities.

WOWS Auction Highlights: Hennessy and Royal Salute

From 14 to 24 October, VIPs from Changi Rewards, Lotte and other Changi partners will receive an exclusive invite to an online auction held on the WOWS portal (https://wows.changiairport.com/auction), featuring two labels from the world’s most exclusive and first-in-the-region rarities.

Hennessy Paradis x Lorenz Bäumer - NBA Limited Edition

To celebrate the NBA's 75th anniversary, Hennessy has teamed up with designer Lorenz Bäumer to create a new Hennessy Paradis magnum: a Baccarat crystal basketball to magnify an exceptional cognac and pay tribute to the most famous basketball league of all time.

The dazzling and spectacular shape of the carafe imagined by the designer, celebrates the basketball symbol of the NBA with its round shape. The breath-taking magnum tells the story of the NBA down to the smallest detail. Gold adorns the leather, weaving itself across the box. Its pattern is reminiscent of the design of parquet wooden floors.

When the time to taste arrives, the story continues. A limited edition of 75 units, these magnificent magnums of 1.75l each contains a rare jewel: Hennessy Paradis. Just one unit will be available for bidding, starting at SGD $225,000*.

Royal Salute: The Art Edition

Another highly prized item up for silent auction is the Royal Salute: The Art Edition – a new collection designed to celebrate the transformative power of creativity between art and whisky.

With only 21 bottles produced worldwide, interested collectors will get the chance to vie for the single unit showcased at WOWS, at a starting bid of SGD $130,000*. This 53-year-old blended scotch whisky alludes to the year 1953: the same year that Queen Elizabeth II was coronated and Royal Salute was established.

Each decanter is mouth-blown by glassmakers of Dartington Crystal, engraved with intricate feathers and hand-gilded in 24-carat gold leaf inspired by British sculptor Kate MccGwire.

Exhibition of Rarities

From 28 to 30 October 2022, WOWS will be holding a by-invite-only Signature event in an experiential feast for the senses, with masterclasses hosted by industry experts, artistic performances, and tastings from a selected range of rare and fine items.

Some of the highlights to look out for are the exhibition of rarities, which include both silent auction items as well as peerless Scotch whisky, cognac, wine, sake, and other spirits sets and collectibles that are available on the WOWS online portal. Among these are a Singleton 54-Year-Old (SGD $56,800), Penfolds Superblend 802B Imperial 6L (SGD $20,288), the full set of Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition (SGD $195,000), and Tales of the Macallan (SGD $120,000).

Guests will also be savouring special sips during the event, including The Kensington, a honeyed take on the Collins cocktail highlighting the rich, warm notes of the Royal Salute 21YO. For more refreshing cocktails, the Courvoisier VSOP French Twist combines Courvoisier VSOP, orange liqueur and fresh lemon juice for an elegant thirst-quencher, while the Hennessy Old Fashioned layers additional flavours with amaretto and fresh lemon juice.

Fans are invited to browse the full selection comprising the Rare & Fine Collection and Premium Collection at https://wows.changiairport.com/explorewows from now till 31 December.
