SUMMERTIMES BIG BAND - 5 May 2011

With a current line-up of 18 musicians, the band has set its eyes to becoming one of Singapore’s most active big bands.

The Big Band was formed with the objective of friendship and more importantly – to play good music, with great musicians, for an even greater audience.

Members of the big band have mostly been either colleagues at various ensembles, or have met onstage the many jazz groups island-wide. More than two-thirds of the members are professional musicians. The coming-together to form their big band is a culmination of years of friendship and musical synergy never before experimented on local jazz grounds.

The music of Summertimes Big Band will enunciate and expound the exuberant energy that flows beyond the dull practicalities of life today, promise. After all, it is music. Wonderful music.
