Epson Launches New WorkForce Pro Replaceable Ink Pack System Business Inkjet Printers

SINGAPORE, 8 May 2020 Epson has announced the launch of two new multifunction A3 printers with its Replaceable Ink Pack System (RIPS) technology. Targeting at medium and large enterprise environments, these printers can print high yields of up to 86,000 pages[1] without interruption and with a single set of ink packs.

With the launch of the WorkForce Pro WF-C879R and WF-C878R, Epson continues to lead in the innovation of cartridge-less printers with its heat-free technology. Driven by its PrecisionCore printheads, the business inkjet printers consume a significantly lower amount of energy, reducing energy consumption[2] and carbon dioxide emissions[3] by as much as 85 per cent compared to laser printers.

The high-capacity ink packs reduce resource consumption, using significantly less consumables and packaging waste. It also has fewer periodical parts to replace, further reducing printer maintenance and downtime.

Ms. Tan May Lin, Director – Sales, Marketing and Customer Service of Epson Sales division, Epson Singapore said, “The new WorkForce Pro printers offer businesses a lower running cost, lower power consumption and a reduced environmental impact, so they can enjoy improved cost efficiency and productivity.”

Designed to help businesses save on running costs while delivering fast printing speeds of up to 26ipm, the printers have a reduced first page out timing of 5.5 seconds. The WF-C879R comes with an improved scan speed of up to 100ipm, as well as an increased ADF paper input capacity. It also comes with an option for a manual stapler that enables convenient on-the-spot stapling of documents.

Epson’s wide range of software solutions enable seamless workplace productivity. With Epson Connect, documents can be printed directly from smart devices or online cloud storage services via Epson iPrint. With Epson Device Admin, Epson’s fleet management tool, users can easily monitor, manage and configure the fleet of printers easily within the network.

Users also have an option to install Epson Print Admin – Epson’s own server-based print management software that helps create a secure printing, scanning and copying environment through user authentication. The software automatically distributes documents to users’ email accounts and folders based on their login IDs and enable IT administrators to generate reports, leading to improved security, productivity and cost savings.

The printers are enabled with open platform, for other third-party software to be easily integrated into Epson printers.

[1]Both printers yield up to 86,000 pages in black and 50,000 pages in color.

[2] Testing was commissioned by Epson to Keypoint Intelligence-Buyers Lab. Two comparison models were selected from color laser multi-function printers in the 65-70ppm class. Tests were conducted at the devices’ default settings using Keypoint Intelligence-Buyers Lab standard energy consumption test methods. Calculations were based on a weekday workload of 2 x 4 hours printing + 16 hours in sleep/standby mode, and weekend energy use of 48 hours in sleep/standby mode. A total of 69 pages of workload test pattern .doc, .xls, .ppt, .html, and Outlook files were printed 6 times in each 4-hour printing period.

[3]Annual CO2 output calculations were based on JEMAI-LCA Pro. Cedar tree CO2 absorption calculations were based on Japan Forestry Agency standards of 8.8kg CO2 per annum per tree.
