Decorating for Christmas - the Flooring Way!

From the recent customer feedback from our last article - "Flooring for the Festive Season!", home owners have one common question. That question is, without changing the existing flooring, what type of colour combination should they do to their interior so as to give the ambience a Christmas touch.

Let's look into these decorating tips with 3 common flooring designs in mind.

1) White Flooring

White coloured flooring is the easiest to blend with to give your home a Christmas. Look for strong red coloured furnishing and decorative items such as table runners, vases, curtains and candles. To go for a bit natural and "fruity" risk, you can get a white bowl of red apples to enhance the interior atmosphere. Tie some red ribbons to your white chairs is one good idea. A small Christmas tree fits best in all white corners of the home, giving your home a modern and yet holiday touch.

2) Wood Designed Flooring

Now, this is another most common flooring in Singapore today as home owners have in terms of laminate wood flooring, parquet, engineered wood and high end resilient flooring. Decorating too much may make your interior room looks a more European cottage feel. Hence in order to prevent from over-designing it, you may need to control the amount of decoration items. One good idea is to make use of a good quality rugs (white colour preferred or a colour that complements your sofa set). Soft furnishings like bean bags and cushions add a subtle touch. Use wall decals to create a Christmas meaning to your wall and interior this holiday season too!

3) Black or Abstract Designed Flooring

Black coloured flooring and abstract designed floors no doubt, are the most difficult to design for interior decoration due to limited colour combination. Moreover, such flooring design already has its own design sense. This however gives home owners more creativity to design for Christmas, yeah? One of the recommended is to introduce greenery or potted plants to reduce the stunning focus on the black or abstract design. You can consider a white Christmas tree for your dark flooring too or adds some white polkadot designs to your walls. For abstract designed flooring, use decorative items with colours in contrast with the overall tone of your flooring. However, try not to overdo it so that the focus of your interior space will be there.

There you have, the 3 Christmas decorating tips for your home by the flooring way! Enjoy decorating your home for the holidays!
