Eco Healthy Flooring ~ A Better Choice Today
Today, we see a growing trend in the indoor and outdoor flooring industry towards a more eco living culture. The demands of home owners and commercial outlets owners are no longer merely looking at getting a floor that's all, many of them are beginning to look for a new healthy living lifestyle for themselves, their families, co-workers and their clients.
Eco flooring not only provides safe healthy flooring for the owners, it also contributes greatly to the sustainable environment.
There are many types of eco floor in the market in the form of quality laminate flooring, timber flooring, engineered wood flooring as well as outdoor decking materials. So how do we catergorised one as eco floor?
First thing is whether it has zero to little formaldehyde emission or not. Formaldehyde, found in most flooring materials and adhesive, is harmful to the human health. Flooring with E1 formaldehyde emission are usually recommended for the property owners. Parador laminate flooring, a German floor brand, has a patented pro air flooring system, in which it will act as a purifying agent that clean the surrounding air, making the floor safe and healthy for the property owners.
Another thing to look at is whether the flooring product contributes to the eco environment. For natural wood products, the owner should look at whether the product comes from managed forests or reliable sources; products with FSC label is usually recommended. On the other hand, some eco floors are also renewable and recyclable. Accoya® wood is one example of natural wood that received the most eco accreditations in the world.
Amidst the growing concerns for the need for healthy and Eco living lifestyle, there are still many flooring manufacturers who mass produced unsafe flooring products with high formalin content and we still see a rise in global illegal logging today. Hence, it might take a longer period of time for more people to have a deeper understanding on eco flooring.
