Is High End Resilient Flooring a New Substitute to Traditional Laminate Floors?

Laminate flooring has been in themarket for more than 30 years; it is an useful flooring product due to its variety in designs and colors, cost effectiveness that will usually fits well all home renovation budgets. It is also pretty much easy to maintain. Over the years laminate flooring demand exceeds that of parquet. However, is this trend going to be taken over by high end resilient floor soon?

Well, pretty much unlikely for the time being. This is because technology and designs for some well known quality and well known laminate flooring brands such as Tarkett and Parador has been improving gradually. Furthermore, laminate flooring is also been used by architects and developers in the building construction industry.

High end resilient flooring (HERF) is a strong substitute to laminate flooring in many areas. Firstly, it is 100% waterproof due to its resilient nature; what it means "standing water" on the surfaces will not cause damages to the floorboard unlike some low quality laminate flooring which is highly susceptible to water. Hence you can install HERF at wet areas such as the kitchen in which it will not be recommended to install laminate floor on.

Secondly, HERF is termite proof as it is unedible to insects and termites. Hence, compare to some laminate flooring which is made up of compressed wood, HERF is suitable for areas nearby forested areas. HERF although has the same installation method as laminate flooring, it has a more solid feel when walked on and there is no need to put any accessories such as skirting and trimming.

To the home owner, by installing HERF, he or she will therefore save tons of money on long term flooring maintenance.

High end resilient flooring is still considered a new type of flooring in the market; just like laminate flooring when it enters the market 30 over years ago. Hence, it will take some time for home owners and the building construction professionals to accept high end resilient floor. Moreover, there is currently limited designs and colors of HERF compare to the various brands of laminate flooring in today's market. Slowly, just like traditional laminate flooring, as more and more home owners understand the advantages of HERF, demand will increase and hence, there will eventually be an increase in the number of HERF manufacturers and brands, giving designs and colors for the residential and commercial home owners.
