JEBSEN & JESSEN (SEA) POISED TO TAKE A BIGGER SHARE OF SOUTH EAST ASIA IN 2011

Singapore, 26 January 2011 – Manufacturing, engineering and distribution company, Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) (JJSEA), kicks off 2011 with an ambitious expansion strategy to increase its footprint across South East Asia. In a move to further solidify its presence in the region, the group has executed a slew of strategically timed acquisitions and ventures spanning diverse industries. These include acquisitions in F&B packaging in Malaysia and material handling in Taiwan, a joint venture in cable manufacturing in Indonesia, as well as the opening of a corporate office in Cambodia.

On 1 January 2011, JJSEA acquired Labplas Sdn Bhd (Labplas), a Malaysian packaging company that specializes in producing plastic PET bottles, jars and caps for big names like Nestle, F&N and Cadbury. Labplas has an extensive export business network throughout ASEAN and beyond as well as a strong network amongst many of Malaysia's multinational corporations and local F&B companies. The acquisition underscores JJSEA Packaging’s seamless entry into the local F&B industry and diversification of the business unit’s future growth.

Another acquisition that also took effect on 1 January 2011 is MHE-Demag Taiwan Company Limited’s (MHE-Demag) takeover of Realm Corporation (Realm) in Taiwan. MHE-Demag is a joint venture between JJSEA and Demag Cranes & Components GmbH (Germany) that engineers, manufactures and maintains cranes and other material handling products. The acquisition of Realm signifies JJSEA’s successful penetration into the Taiwanese market which now extends beyond ASEAN and marks the establishment of the company’s eighth crane factory in the region.

Indonesia is seen as one of the key emerging markets of enormous growth potential for the JJSEA group, recently witnessed the formation of PT JJ-Lapp Cable SMI. This is

a joint venture between JJ-Lapp Cable, the cable technology arm of JJSEA, and PT Sinarmonas, a privately held company. This latest development will see JJ-Lapp Cable’s transition from a cable distribution to a cable manufacturing company, with business volume expected to more than double within the next three years. Product offerings which include PVC control cables, automotive cables, fire-resistant and instrumentation cables will now be made available to the Indonesian domestic market and will see greater distribution across ASEAN.

Another milestone development for the JJSEA Group is the setting up of Jebsen & Jessen Cambodia Ltd, in Phnom Penh. JJSEA is already an active player in the local market, having completed numerous projects through its various businesses such as cable technology, material handling, communications and chemicals. A local presence will enable the group to gain deeper market access and create a local point of contact for rapid customer response.

"Jebsen & Jessen has been on the ground with local expertise and facilities in South East Asia for almost 50 years. These recent developments are a reaffirmation of our commitment to the region and are part of a strategic focus to reinforce our presence in a number of important growth markets" said Mr Heinrich Jessen, Chairman, Jebsen & Jessen.
