Kimberly-Clark wins prestigious Gold Standard Award for Corporate Citizenship

Kimberly-Clark Asia-Pacific has won the prestigious Gold Standard Award for Corporate Citizenship at the annual Gold Standard Awards 2015 held in Hong Kong.

The award identifies excellence in the development of a CSR, sustainability or good governance project which enhances corporate reputation.

At Kimberly-Clark, providing ‘essentials for a better life’ goes beyond selling products to making a positive impact to the society and environment. This vision is reflected in the company’s Sustainability 2015 global strategy. Implemented locally through a network of champions and operations teams, Sustainability 2015 touches on Kimberly-Clark’s most material environmental and social impacts with three main strategic thrusts:

  • Move the needle on responsible forestry
  • Reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing operations
  • Include social metrics in its strategy

Additionally, Kimberly-Clark also focuses on sustainable innovation throughout its products’ life cycles; for example, creating a diaper made from naturally-sourced inputs in Korea, launching a diaper composting programme in New Zealand, and promoting FSC-certified tissue products throughout APAC.

To ensure sustainability is extended across its value chain, Kimberly-Clark continues to assess all new and existing suppliers in six material categories key to its business. It has also put in place clear supplier guidelines on issues including waste minimization GHG reduction, fibre procurement and social compliance standards.

Other notable award wins for Kimberly-Clark in 2015 include the  Sustainable Business Award – Large Enterprise category at the annual Singapore Sustainability Awards and Singapore Sustainable Business Awards for Water Management.
