Press release -

Arthur Choo releases the first series of ‘Cajon Online’!

In response to the circuit breaker period that has resulted in massive cancellation of music events and performances, Arthur Choo, the founder of BEAT’ABOX has turned to the virtual platform to keep the art of drumming alive.

With support from the National Arts Council, Arthur has produced Cajon Online! This is a series showcasing performances featuring a group of homegrown musicians across different cultural and musical backgrounds.

In this first series, we fused Cajon drumming with other drumming styles such as Chinese Percussion, Indian Percussion, and Malay Percussion. The main concept centers around Arthur co-performing with guest artists well-versed in ethnic percussion.

The performances were presented in the form of videos uploaded onto YouTube, featuring guest artistes including Glen Ng and Qli (Chinese Drum), Riduan Zalani (Malay Frame Drum), and Lalit Kumar (Indian Drum), George Leong and Shaun Wesley (Music Producers). They shared their personal growth and stories on their journey to success in the arts scene, including their ups and downs - hoping to inspire the next generation of artists!

Besides engaging the audience digitally, Cajon Online seeks to convey a greater message that we can stay united and collaborate with one another to create new possibilities in this trying time. It is also a way of inspiring other local artists to think out of the box and expand their creative horizons.
