Launching Levucell SB in the Philippines

Jebsen & Jessen Chemicals in the Philippines and principal Lallemand Animal Nutrition jointly organised an event to launch Levucell SB, a live yeast cell strain that helps to reduce pathogenic micro-organism concentration in animal feed.

In recent years, the globalisation of the animal production market and the withdrawal of antibiotic growth promoters in certain countries, coupled with food and feed safety concerns, have increased the market for natural products to enhance livestock performance, health and hygiene. Probiotics represent one of the most promising of these natural alternatives.

Unlike antimicrobials, probiotics have the ability to promote the selective growth of beneficial microbial species while synthetic antimicrobials suppress the growth of all microflora indiscriminately. Probiotics thus allow for a balanced population of gut microflora, leading to better health of livestock.

Specifically designed for swine, Levucell SB improves the digestive transit quality of sows and decreases piglet mortality. It also neutralizes Clostridium Difficile, a common causative agent of piglet neonatal diarrhea.

The launch event, which took place on Jan 20 in Makati City, attracted close to 100 animal feed nutritionists and veterinarians from feed mills and swine farms.

The event commenced with a short presentation by Jebsen & Jessen Chemicals Regional Feed Manager Mr Zhun Chea Wong. Following, Area Sales Manager Lallemand Animal Nutrition, Dr Pardip Linge, briefed the audience about the application of specific live yeasts and how they enhance the nutrition and health of monogastrics.

The event formed a perfect platform to introduce Levucell SB to potential new customers and highlight Jebsen & Jessen Chemicals extensive product portfolio.
