Tobias Jansson and Oscar Forsman, students at Umeå Architectural College are the winners of Nordbygg’s competition for students of architecture, Nya ögon på plast i arkitekturen (New view on plastics in Architecture). The winning contribution, Paviljong (Pavillon), will be set up in the entrance square at Stockholmsmässan, and function as a café and meeting place during Nordbygg, April 10-13.
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair continues to grow and strengthen its position as the world’s largest meeting place for Scandinavian furniture and lighting design. The fair, which ended last weekend, saw a total of 31 percent overseas visitors representing a record number of 100 countries.
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s award - Editors’ Choice - will be handed out for the third consecutive year. The jury consists of Editors-in-Chief from several of Europe’s most important design forums. The 2018 jury consists of Marcus Fairs, Dezeen; Adeline Seidel, Stylepark; Donatella Bollani, Domus and Costas Voyatzis, Yatzer.
Nordbygg is driving the development in the Swedish construction sector. This is in part done by actively starting and taking part in different initiatives on digital innovation, equality and skills development. These areas will make their mark on Nordbygg 2018, which will take place at Stockholmsmässan on April 10-12.
February 6-10, it is time for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, the world's leading meeting place for Scandinavian design. On Saturday February 10th the trade fair is also open to the general public who want to see the latest in lighting and furniture. The fair also offers inspiration in exhibitions and lectures by nationally and internationally renowned designers.
By combining Stockholm Design Week and Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, Week 6 is now booked in the calendars of buyers, architects, designers and journalists from all over the world. With the trade fair at the middle of it all, the entire city will be buzzing with around 200 events, installations and parties. This year’s Design Week will also include a unique light installation.
The jury-assessed award, Formex Formidable 2017, goes to Iris Hantverk for its broom for outdoor use. The designer is Lovisa Wattman. The honorary ‘People’s Choice’ award, which is determined by the public, goes to Eldblås for its double woven wool throw designed by Karin Kloth.
Formex, which will be held January 17-20, is the kick-off for the spring season in the interior design industry. Visitors can listen to many interesting speakers, such as one of the world’s leading trend forecasters, Li Edelkoort, and lifestyle trend expert and researcher Mads Arlien-Søborg. This year’s Formex Formidable design award will be presented at Wednesday’s press breakfast.
At Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 6-10, this year´s Guest of Honour; the design icon Paola Navone creates a unic installation – Thammada. The visitor is invited to a colourful environment where everyday things are transformed into something special. This is the fifteenth time a renowned international designer is invited to design an installation at the fair’s entrance hall.
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 6-10, will present the exhibition, PANORAMA – aiming for democratic architecture. The exhibition highlights how architecture can contribute to democracy, and it hopes to initiate a discussion on this topic.
For Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2018, Greenhouse, the fair’s forum for unestablished designers, is moving to a new, larger area. Designer Nick Ross was given the assignment to create an exhibition and a café for the new Greenhouse area. A new addition to the 2018 fair is also the award, “Best Performance - Selected by the Greenhouse Jury”.
For the 100th anniversary of Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender, Bonnier Brands is creating the wonderful fairy tale world imagined by the mother of Swedish children’s books, Elsa Beskow. The exhibition is a collaboration with internationally renowned JoAnn Tan Studio.
