A new direct service between Sweden and Asia is due to commence tomorrow, operated by the G6 Alliance. Ships will call at APM Terminals, the container terminal at the Port of Gothenburg, once a week. The first vessel in the service is the giant Hyundai Drive.

The Port of Gothenburg has rebuilt a 900-metre quay at the container terminal, an investment of SEK 450 million.The quay has also been prepared for onshore power supply. Vessels at berth can shut down their auxiliary engines and switch to onshore power. There is potential for 11 onshore power connections along the quay.

Around 200 steel pipes, each one 40 metres in length, are currently being unloaded at the Port of Gothenburg. The pipes have been transported from Turkey and will be used to construct the new Marieholm Tunnel in Gothenburg. The load is the first of two, making a total of 400 pipes that are due to be unloaded at the port.
