ÅF modernises CHP plant for Bodens Energi

ÅF has been commissioned to upgrade and modernise Boden's combined heat and power plant. The assignment is a full-service undertaking in which ÅF will be responsible for all sub-elements of the project, with immediate start.

ÅF has been commissioned to upgrade and modernise Bodens Energi’s combined heat and power plant in Boden. The assignment is a full-service undertaking in which ÅF will be responsible for all sub-elements of the project, from project management, design and programming, to installation and commissioning. The project starts immediately and the assignment is expected to continue until December 2015.

“This assignment is further proof of ÅF’s successful project business, in which specialists from a number of different offices will be working together to create a modern, future-proof CHP plant for Bodens Energi,” says Johan Rova, Project Manager for ÅF in Luleå.

Bodens Energi has several solid fuel boilers at its CHP plant, where both control systems and operator systems are beginning to show signs of age. The existing control systems are of various makes, including SattCon and ABB, with operator systems Fix and ABB 800xA.

The company has now opted for a single operator system, ABB 800xA, and to replace the underlying control systems. The replacement will happen in stages over the next few years, as the work can only be carried out when the boilers are not in operation.
