The Legion Games Announces #PauseYourGame In Honour Of Armistice Day

London – 22 October 2020: The Legion Games, the video games fundraising initiative from The Royal British Legion, has announced #PauseYourGame - an act of Remembrance by the games and live streaming community.

Running from Wednesday 4 November to Wednesday 11, #PauseYourGame is a week of streams, giveaways, tournaments, and events, hosted by popular streamer Lomadiah and supported by PCGamesN and The Loadout as the official media partners. Those interested in getting involved and fundraising in aid of The Legion Games can download the free community pack complete with overlays, logos and holding screens at www.legiongames.gg.

I’m very excited to be working with The Royal British Legion for Remembrance 2020; they’re an amazing charity that has been impacted - like many - by the pandemic. The #PauseYourGame initiative is a fantastic way for gamers and their viewers to get involved from the comfort of their home and potentially win some awesome prizes!”

“I believe strongly in supporting our veterans with rehabilitation into society, and with physical or mental obstacles. No-one should have to feel alone or lost, especially when they have given so much already in service of our country.” - Hannah ‘Lomadiah’ Rutherford

Throughout the week, Lomadiah will be joined by a variety of different influencers, such as Two Angry Gamers, as well as streams by The Legion Games community. #PauseYourGame is also backed by Ukie, the UK Interactive Entertainment Association, Corsair, Wargaming, and other members of the UK video games industry.

When #PauseYourGame concludes on Wednesday 11 November, The Legion Games will run their own digital commemoration, by asking streamers and the wider games community to pause their game, stream, or social activity, for two minutes at 11:00 GMT to join the national moment of Remembrance.

“Since the end of the Second World War 75 years ago, Remembrance has continued to be an important moment for the Armed Forces community. However, due to COVID-19 this year’s commemorations will not be the same. #PauseYourGame is not only an effort to raise money to support our Armed Forces community, but also connecting those who cannot physically do so in 2020.” – Chanel Woodland, Head of Innovation, The Legion Games

Dave ‘Daveytati176’ Tait of 26th Regiment Royal Artillery is one of the many affected by what continues to be a very challenging year.

“This is the first time in 22 years I’ll not be in uniform for Remembrance Sunday. [...] For me, Remembrance Sunday is remembering all servicemen and women who have fallen [...] those vets that can’t see family etc because shielding and such alike should be thought about, I can sympathise as all I had during lockdown (and post knee op) was my mess room as I had nowhere else to go…” - Dave ‘Daveytati176’ Tait

Pioneered by The Royal British Legion, The Legion Games is on a mission to aid and support the serving and ex-serving community through building a community of streamers, gamers, and influencers. The Legion Games connects people through their love of gaming. Whether players are from the Armed Forces community or not, The Legion Games promotes inclusivity.

In addition to #PauseYourGame, make sure you keep an eye on World of Warships. The free-to-play naval war-themed MMO will be helping the cause and holding their own exciting new campaign in support of the Royal British Legion and Remembrance Day. More news will be announced soon.
