Crisis hits Man City – and the odds was hit too

LONDON. Manchester City suddenly found themselves in crisis on Tuesday evening after their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern München - and the bookmakers reacted as fast. Online bookmakers Betclic are now paying 7.50 for City to win the group compared to the 2.20 before the group phase started.

“The match against Bayern München changed everything for City and they now face an uphill struggle to qualify for the knockout stages,” said Press Manager at Betclic Dan Vikman.

Man City were 1.25 to qualify and 2.20 to win Group A before matchday one of the group stage  but with just one point from their opening two matches Roberto Mancini’s team are under huge pressure, especially with the Carlos Tevez saga ongoing too.

The Argentinean striker allegedly refused to come on as a substitute in the match against Bayern and is yet another problem Mancini has to deal with as he faces a huge battle to get his side into the last 16 of Europe’s premier club competition.

Napoli are now the favourite to qualify from the group A with high-flying German side Bayern München, paying 1.65 and 1.05 respectively. The odds on City to go through have now gone up to 2.20 and they are third favourite to qualify.

“City can still do it but have a mountain to climb. Mancini must get his players to improve their European form and two wins from the next two games against Villarreal is a must. The English club can’t afford anymore slip-ups if they are going to keep their European adventure alive,” added Vikman.
