World No. 1 Donald ready to follow Mcllroy and win his first major at Royal St Georges

The odds on Luke Donald to win the British Open this week have been lowered from 15 to 11 times the money at Betclic.com after his Scottish Open victory over the weekend. Rory McIlroy meanwhile is the hottest golf player in the world at the moment and pays 8.00 in odds to win the classic tournament.

The US Open Champion will be back in action for the first time since his memorable major triumph at the 140th Open Championship at Royal St Georges and will be hoping to pick up his second major win.

But World No.1 Luke Donald, who as Betclic predicted, warmed up for the Open in fine style with a comprehensive win at the Scottish Open and will be looking to challenge Mcllroy and win his first major.

With the unpredictable nature of links golf and changing nature of the British weather this could be a very open major championship and the likes of Lee Westwood (11,00), Martin Kaymer (20,00), Sergio Garcia (25,00), Ian Poulter (40,00) and other outsiders could come into the equation.

Leading the charge for the Americans will be Steve Stricker, who won the John Deere Classic last weekend, and Phil Mickleson priced at 35 and 40 times the money respectively at Betclic.
