Press release —
Knauf Danogips develops BIM objects together with BIMobject®
Knauf Danogips, part of global corporation Knauf, is one of the largest manufacturers of building materials in Europe. The Knauf group has more than 100 production facilities worldwide with 18,000 employees and a turnover of 5 billion Euro.
The business mantra for Knauf Danogips includes innovation, development and creativity and these are the cornerstones for its success over many years. Therefore it is very natural for Knauf Danogips to team up with BIMobject®, the global leader for intelligent digital content for BIM, to supply architects and construction companies with intelligent integrated solutions for building design and product specification.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the successor of Computer Aided Design (CAD). In BIM a virtual model of the building is used for traditional production drawings and 3D visualisation and also for the intelligent decisions from simulations and clash detection which produce accurate bill of materials, construction plans and handover information for building operation. With BIM all disciplines in the design and construction process collaborate by sharing information to ensure informed decisions can be taken in the virtual world rather than by trying to fix problems on the construction site.
A strategic imperative for Knauf Danogips was to quickly enter BIM and they identified BIMobject as having the understanding and expertise to deliver the quality and processes required. This expertise has been invaluable in developing highly intelligent, lightweight metal drywalls as BIM objects which can be placed directly into the designer’s/ constructor’s chosen BIM software. The drywall BIMobjects have built-in product logic which include design constraints offering enhanced communication between the designer/constructor and Knauf Danogips.
BIMobject® developed the objects for ArchiCAD and to work in many parts of the BIM process from design to construction models. Detailed bill of materials is automated when the drywall BIM objects are used in the BIM system.
The first BIM objects developed and published are the drywalls multiregel system S450. These are available, at no charge, today from http://bimobject.com/Product/m/Knaufdanogips
”For us it is important to follow the needs and developments in our industry and for this our choice of supplier BIMobject® was done though references from other projects that BIMobject® done successfully. We believe this is very important for us to engage in BIM and IT technology to be close to our customers and help them design and specify our solutions” Says Stefan Holmberg,Technical manager at Knauf Danogips .
”We welcome Knauf Danogips to the BIMobject® cloud with their new very intelligent and high quality objects. I am sure this is a real game changer for the industry and will assist Knauf Danogips to keep their innovation edge as well as engaging with their customers designing great buildings with the Knauf Danogips products” says Stefan Larsson, CEO of BIMobject AB
