Get the Inside Scoop from Lions Direct Limited CEO Kamil Nosal
This past week, CEO at Lions Direct Limited, Kamil Nosal took some time out of his busy schedule to sit down for a one on one interview, revealing the inside scoop at the firm.
Lions Direct Limited: About the firm
It’s been a momentous year at Lions Direct Limited so far, and this past week, CEO Kamil Nosal answered some frequently asked questions and provided insight on the firm’s goals for the future.
Why did you choose the name Lions Direct Limited?
"A lion is known to be the King of Beasts ("king of the jungle" would be a misnomer) across most cultures of the world. This title comes from its appearance and partly because of the social structure of a pride and the lion’s role in the pride. A lion possesses a royal look and attitude. Add to that a tremendous roar that can be heard miles across the Savannah. Also, living in a pride, a lion doesn’t need to hide or avoid any other animals including human beings. A lion lives in the open and controls its territory like a true king, sporting a ‘kingly’ mane and heading a pride that feeds him. This encapsulates our culture at Lions Direct Limited. We are a pride that works together to achieve one shared vision."
You recently started working on a pilot project, how is that going?
"It's going great; I'm really excited about this campaign especially because the charity is doing a lot of work in the Maidstone area. We recently got a certificate with the results of our fundraising projects. In the last quarter, it was estimated we raised £170,000 which is incredible. It's a great feeling knowing we're helping to give back."
What is the biggest lesson you had to learn as a business owner?
"I think that the biggest lesson for me was realising that people achieve their true potential only when they step outside of their comfort zone. All the great inventions, achievements, records, etc. came from the need to overcome a certain obstacle, simplify life, compete with others, etc. Greatness never comes from mediocrity."
What are your biggest motivations?
"I want to travel the world to share my experience internationally as a public speaker and mentor young entrepreneurs. As a huge basketball fan, my goal is to buy shares in one of the NBA clubs and watch an All-Star game from the first row. Lastly, I want to gain financial freedom and travel across every continent with my family."
What are the short-term and long-term goals for Lions Direct?
"Short-term: Expand into five new locations in the UK by the end of 2019.
Long-term: Open up over ten new locations by 2020 before expanding internationally into the USA and Canada."
What do you look for when it comes to talent acquisition?
"A willingness to learn, exceptional work ethic and an invincible attitude."
What habit do you credit most for your business success?
"A great attitude. I believe that my success has been based on the ability to deal with problems with a smile and always have an optimistic outlook. My great attitude helped me to teach and train people effectively as well as help to grow my business in a short period of time."
If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
"Stop limiting yourself. So many people operate at 50% or below their true potential just because it's acceptable and that's what they see around them. I was one of them for a while. Being great is way better than being average in every aspect of your life. To have a better future, we have to invest more time and effort, as someone once famously said - "You can't have million dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic."
You regularly run business trips across the UK, what are the reasons behind that?
"First and foremost; networking. I firmly believe that surrounding my top performers with like-minded individuals from all across the UK is helping them to grow and develop. Outside of that, we’re giving people the chance to step up and take on extra responsibility. Our most promising performers have the chance to take on managerial responsibility and develop leadership skills during those trips."
Do you have any hobbies / how do you relax/unwind?
"I am a huge basketball fan. Since 2005 I’ve been watching and reading everything that involves the NBA. I played semi-pro for about four years, and I still play casually, playing streetball on the weekends. Outside of that, I spend a lot of time exploring local restaurants, playing board games and watching football with my business partners. I'm also a big fan of medieval culture, so I read and watch TV-series based on Historical events."
