Smarktivity respond to reports of Birmingham launching skills initiative

Smarktivity has released a statement on a recent initiative set to be implemented in the coming month by Birmingham’s Mayor. The programme will focus on benefiting the city's economy while aiding aspiring entrepreneurs across the region.

Smarktivity: About the firm

The planned programme, entitled the ‘Regional Skills Plan’ has taken a strong focus on equipping local communities with a variety of skills and qualities to excel within the business landscape. The programme was designed in order to create higher levels of economic growth within the city and further afield across the West Midlands.

In partnership with the initiative are a number of high profile companies within the city, inclusive of Jaguar Land Rover, Deloitte and Balfour Beatty alongside the collaboration of Birmingham Mayor, Andy Street and the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).

The plan will focus on furthering apprenticeship opportunities, higher levels of investment in technical skills (including digital) and a reinvigorated career system that aides all sectors of society. The programme will encourage collaboration amongst university, colleges and a multitude of training providers, an aspect Smarktivity wholeheartedly supports.

“I believe that entrepreneurship has seen a huge invigoration as of recent years and that in part is down to educational faculties getting on board, providing youngsters with knowledge and opportunities,” stated Matt Wassall, Managing Director of Smarktivity.

Smarktivity is a business that has a strong focus on skill development themselves, boasting an industry renowned development programme that centres around the company’s contractors. Designed by business owner, Mr Wassall, the firm’s plan explores skill development, mentorship and industry knowledge. Smarktivity frequently takes their contractors to industry events, networking opportunities and seminars in order to expose the aspiring entrepreneurs to the business environment.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the city of Birmingham, and we’re excited to see the rewards and benefits this will have on the West Midlands. As a company that frequently encourages entrepreneurship, we will certainly be getting into the spirit of skill development in our local community,” concluded the business owner.
