Press release -
Edinburgh Acupuncture Without Needles
Looking for the benefits of acupuncture in Edinburgh but afraid of needles? The Centre for Holistic Health, an Edinburgh-based acupuncture and alternative therapies centre, now offers needle-free ear acupuncture. This effective acupuncture treatment is available at 5a York Place Edinburgh.
Acupuncture is one of the alternative therapies that has the most scientific backing so it isn’t surprising that it is a first choice for many people. However, for some people the thought of needles creates fear and stops them from pursuing treatment.
New technology enables us to benefit from the ancient practices of acupuncture but without the needles, using a small device that stimulates ear acupuncture points.
Using the ear for diagnosis and treatment can sound a little like voodoo medicine, but rest assured this ancient practice has solid scientific backing. Ear acupuncture is very effective because the ear contains such a very dense network of nerve endings. In particular, the ear contains points that affect the sympathetic nervous system making it very powerful in treating stress, pain, anxiety, PTSD, weight loss and addiction.
Interestingly, we can tell quite a lot about the body’s condition from looking at the ear. Dysfunction in the body often shows up with discoloration or structural changes within the ear. Most acupuncture sessions will involve some body points and ear points, but now with fine electrical stimulators, needle-free acupuncture using ear points is possible.
For people with needle phobia, this makes acupuncture now more accessible! To stimulate the points that I would have normally needled, I now use a combination of light electrical stimulation (so low that you only feel the pressure of the probe on the ear) and then at the end of the session I leave in small ear seeds or magnets to continue working.
