Press release -
US and Canada to drive growth within the facial injectables market
The facial injectables market has been forecast to increase 8.5% through 2015, driven by the increase in incidents of HIV-associated Lipodystrophy in the US, and the increase in new product launches.
The facial injectables market comprises four product types: botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, particle and polymer fillers, and collagen fillers. These injectables can be used in the facial area to correct facial lines and folds and to rejuvenate and add volume to the face.
The US and Canadian markets for facial injectables will grow significantly through 2017, driven primarily by the expansion of the botulinum toxin market, which accounts for over half of the entire facial injectable market.
The majority of western countries are experiencing a strong growth for facial injectables among males and females between the ages of 40 and 54. This increase was noted on the account of rise in demand for the anti-aging treatments.
In today's modern arena of technological innovation, one of the most effective non-surgical procedures is Radio Frequency facials. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved radio frequency facelifts as a non-surgical treatment for wrinkles and facial skin imperfections.
Managing unrealistic expectations of clients remains one of the major challenges faced by this industry. Moreover, lack of proper regulations on cosmetic intervention by unauthorised practitioners is a matter of concern for global aesthetics industry.
Allergan continues to dominate the global facial injectable market but is facing increasing competition from a growing number of competitors. As the traditional leader in this market, Allergan earned its top position primarily through its longstanding monopoly of the global botulinum toxin market.
However, in recent years, more competitors have entered the botulinum toxin market, and the newer market for dermal fillers has also blossomed, making it difficult for Allergan to maintain its share. Some of the major players within the dermal filler market include Galderma, Bloomage BioTechnology and Beijing Emeical BioTechnology.
