Press release -

Covid-19 lockdown leads 16-year-old Ben Harrison to craft his first EP

Fresh off the back of releasing his first demo - "Capitulation" - Ben Harrison is back with a lockdown-inspired extended play. Set to be released on the 29th May, almost seven months to the day from when he got his first guitar, the 5-track (+1 interlude) EP has been fully recorded, mixed, and produced at home in Croydon, London in lockdown. The songs, known collectively as the "Quarantin-EP" as a play on words of the situation we all face, are mostly originals. The EP also includes a cameo appearance from a few of Ben's friends and bandmates (The Interests), after being tricked into saying the first few lines of 'Capitulation' - which features on the EP in a slower, higher key, alternate version. The last track is the only song that isn't one of Ben's, an acoustic cover of the beautiful "Hanging Off Your Cloud" by The Courteeners.

Drawing influences from Noel Gallagher, The Smiths and DMA's, the lyrics tackle many issues such as atheism, eloping and failing relationships. The songs have a raw, slightly rough acoustic sound, possibly due to the way Ben recorded the tracks with his 8-track, sitting on the edge of his bed.

Exclusive listen here:

This EP is completely self-made, from head to toe. All the songs (bar the cover!) are originals, all recorded in Ben's bedroom, mixed, mastered and marketed by Ben himself. Although at a small level now, who knows what is next on this long, musical road ahead. Subject to lockdown, Ben hopes to have more music coming out - with the aim to professionally record some tracks later this year. He is also hoping to get on the road, and start gigging again, looking for support slots. At just sixteen, he is proving that the power is in the youth to make great guitar music.

"Quarantin-EP" is out on all major streaming platforms on May 29th, with the single "Step By Step" available on May 15th.
