THE HECK: Dutch Garage-Punk Trio Release Second Single "For Cryin' Out Loud" b/w "Panic Attack"

The Heck is the sixties-influenced garage punk band from Henri Keefman. Henri was the preaching frontman of De Keefmen and the Miracle Men and is currently one half of the Sensational Second Cousins along with his, uh, second cousin and in The Heck Henri is combining the same influences of his favourite bands as always: the Real Kids, the Remains, the Seeds, the Pagans, Dead Moon and the Reigning Sound. Since they are from the north of the Netherlands obviously also the Nederbeat influence remains very strong i.e. echoes of the Outsiders, Q65, and Cuby and the Blizzards can all be heard in Henri's songs.

Their live shows are explosive;  on Thursday 3 October they are supporting garage legends The Sonics at Patronaat in Haarlem!

"352 bands and acts from all over Europe came to Groningen, Holland in January 2018 to prove themselves at Eurosonic / Noorderslag for some 40,000 visitors and 500 journalists. Among the Danish rap, Icelandic black metal, Finnish dance and Hungarian electronics, festival-goers hoped for sporadic bright spots. The organization had a real app built for those who wanted to finish the latest summer hypes. But it was, as it should be, a matter of mere coincidence and pure happiness who returned home with a satisfied feeling at the end of the journey. In any case, the visitors of The Heck did so.

All the way from Drenthe in the Netherlands this trio turned out to be by far the noisiest (and the nicest!) band of the festival. Unencumbered by pretensions, breakthrough opportunities and commercial ideas, singer / guitarist Henri Keefman, bassist René Katerbarg and drummer Erik Berends completely went their own way. With music that you can place somewhere between The Sonics and Reigning Sound: garage punk of the best kind. It is thanks to producer Frans Hagenaars that the explosive energy of the live shows is captured on this beautiful 7 inch single. While the needle drops in the groove and the volume knob gets a pendulum to the right, the listener only needs to remember Henri Keefman. Lying on his back, soldering amidst a wildly enthusiastic crowd, while the amplifiers creak terribly and the sweat drips from the walls."

Past performers have included The White Stripes (voted by Q Magazine as one of the top 10 gigs of all time, Mojo one of the top 30 and Kerrang one of the top 100!), The Gories, Country Teasers, Black Lips, NOBUNNY, Kid Congo Powers, The Fleshtones, Billy Childish, Radio Birdman, The Dirtbombs, Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, The 5.6.7.8's, The Horrors and The Brian Jonestown Massacre to name just a few. The club has also seen some original '60s performers, such as The Monks, ? and the Mysterians, Kim Fowley, Sky Saxon, GONN, Michael Davis of the MC5 and more grace its stage.

Their in-house record label, Dirty Water Records, is one of the leading garage/beat/(real) R&B labels in the world.
