Discover Airlines receives 4-star rating from Skytrax
- First Skytrax audit for Discover Airlines
- Very good balance of comfort, consistency, and professionalism across customer experience
- Premium Economy Class & IFE: outstanding in the leisure airline segment
The Lufthansa Group's leisure airline underwent its first audit by the internationally recognized rating agency Skytrax – and was immediately awarded a 4-star rating in the Leisure Airline category. This means that the young airline has achieved the second-highest rating in the industry right from the start – there is currently no airline with a higher rating in this category. The audit took place in November 2025 on short- and long-haul flights from Frankfurt and Munich.
The 4-star rating is considered a clear mark of quality and recognizes high standards in terms of the product and staff service – both on board and on the ground. Among other things, comfort, service quality, processes, and the overall experience for guests throughout the travel chain are evaluated.
The auditors' conclusion: Discover Airlines has a very well-developed product that exceeds the market standard for leisure airlines in many areas and impresses with a very good balance of comfort, consistency, and professionalism across the customer experience. Particular emphasis is placed on business class, premium economy class, catering, in-flight entertainment, and the appearance of the crew.
Outstanding: Premium Economy & Inflight Entertainment
Skytrax attests that the Premium Economy Class is significantly above the typical leisure standard and describes it as “one of Discover Airlines' strongest value areas at this time.” On long-haul flights, Discover Airlines offers up to 31 seats in this travel class, whose product has been continuously developed in recent years—including porcelain tableware, printed menus, and a welcome drink.
The free in-flight entertainment (IFE) on all flights received special recognition, particularly the onboard cloud, which allows guests to conveniently watch films, series, and read magazines on their own devices. Especially on short-haul flights, the auditors rated this service, which is often not available in Europe or only available for a fee, as “generous” and particularly suitable for holidaymakers and families.
Ulrich Lindner, CEO of Discover Airlines:
"We are very proud of this award. It proves that Discover Airlines has quickly become a strong brand in the high-quality private and leisure travel segment – and can easily compete on a European and international level.
I'd like to thank the whole team: it is their success and the reward for their hard work in building and developing our airline over the past five years.
Our guests can be assured that we will not rest on this award, but will continue to invest consistently in their travel experience in the future – including the renewal of our entire long-haul cabin and the addition of the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 to our fleet."
Starting in 2027, Discover Airlines will begin a comprehensive cabin refurbishment of its entire Airbus A330 fleet. By 2028, the fleet will grow from 30 aircraft today to a total of 40, including the Airbus A350 as its new flagship.
