New DJI Drone Rescue Map Tracks Drone-Assisted Rescues Worldwide

Drones have found missing people, brought supplies to trapped survivors, peered through smoke and darkness to find unconscious victims. This week DJI launched an online reference to track events around the world of where a drone has helped rescue someone from peril.

The Drone Rescue Map, online here, shows how more than 400 people around the world have been helped by drones in more than 200 emergencies, and will be continually updated as new rescues occur.

It has been compiled from news stories and social media posts from authoritative sources such as police departments, fire departments and volunteer rescue squads.

DJI encourages public safety agencies to share additional drone rescues so they can be included and should be submitted here

The Rainbow Road Series with Hasselblad

After moving from California back to his New England hometown in the winter of 2018, Daniel Mercadante was inspired by the cold blue evenings to experiment with rainbow lights and long exposure. The results: The Rainbow Road series. In this set of “light painting” images, Daniel’s switch to the X1D has become essential for executing this surreal, enchanting path and making it even more tempting to follow.

To create the Rainbow Road, Daniel built a lighting device deemed the “Rainbow Rig.” Attaching household LED lights with strips of coloured gels onto a broom, Daniel sets a long exposure and runs through the frame carrying the Rainbow Rig. Shooting his images at f/8 or f/11 and ISO 100, exposure time can vary between 30 seconds and 2 minutes depending on the brightness of the environment.

You can share these amazing images with your readers by directing them to the official Hasselblad website
