DJI Drones Capture Unique Footage in a Zoo

Commissioned by the producers of the TV show 'Real life in the zoo', Dronewatch was challenged with capturing a number of drone shots at the Ouwehands Zoo, located in Rhenen, Holland. The job involved recording elephants, pandas, and giraffes from 'unusual' camera angles, importantly, without disturbing the animals. The results clearly show that the animals didn’t even notice the presence of the drones.

For this show, three different DJI drones were used: An Inspire 2 for the establishing shots (sunrise, overview images), a Mavic 2 Pro for shots at a somewhat lower height and a Mavic 2 Zoom for the close-up shots of animals. Thanks to the zoom range of 24-96 mm and the relatively low noise of the drone, full screen images were achieved without disturbing the animals.

New Levels of Efficiency for Infrastructure Inspectors with the M300 RTK

Inspections are critical to keep infrastructure running, such as a continuous supply of power to our homes or bridges safe for the loads they carry. Drones provide inspectors with tools that prevent them from taking risky and time consuming actions such as climbing power poles or stringing from bridges.

Valmont Industries, a leading provider of engineered products for critical infrastructure, talks about their drone operations and how the new Matrice 300 RTK and Zenmuse H20 Series offer increased efficiency for their missions.

Livox Introduces the New Tele-15, a Lidar with Improved Detection Range

Livox Technology Company is revolutionising the Lidar industry by announcing availability of the Livox Tele-15 automotive Lidar to the global market on a mass producible scale. Since its announcement at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, the Livox Tele-15 has garnered a significant amount of interest due to its many advanced features, performance and approachable cost.

Designed for advanced long-distance detection, the Livox Tele-15 offers a durable, high precision system in a compact form. Objects with low reflectivity have an increased detection range of 60% from 200 metres to 320 metres at 10% reflectivity, and it will also detect objects at 500 metres with 50% reflectivity, previously requiring 80% reflectivity at that distance. Additionally, Tele-15 now supports a custom firmware, increasing detection range to a maximum of 1,000 metres allowing autonomous driving systems to detect objects well in advance while providing crucial reaction time even at higher speeds.
