Upgraded SDR platform delivers a major leap in interference resistance, image quality, and transmission range
DJI, the global leader in creative camera technology, today officially launched the DJI SDR Transmission 2, an all-new video transmission system built on an upgraded software defined radio (SDR) platform. Featuring DCI 4K/60fps 10-bit HDR at up to 50Mbps bitrate and a 35ms low latency 1, up to 4km transmission range, it delivers a high-bitrate, low-latency, professional-grade on-set monitoring experience; even on crowded sets with signals from multiple devices crisscrossing. For users already owning DJI’s professional range of Ronin products, the device is compatible with RS gimbals, Ronin 2 and Master Wheels.2
Integrated Transmitter-Receiver Design in a Lightweight Body
With an integrated transmitter-receiver design, each transceiver unit can quickly switch roles depending on the on-set environment, removing the need to plan the transmitter-to-receiver ratio in advance. This greatly improves device utilization and flexibly adapts to ever-changing on-set needs. The lightweight main unit weighs approximately 136 g, reducing the payload on handheld stabilizers and easily mounting to a wide range of cameras and cinema cameras. An optional expansion board adds an SDI port, an HDMI video port, and four USB-C ports, and supports SDI metadata pass-through for mainstream cinema cameras. For outdoor environments such as car mounts, an optional cage provides rugged physical protection along with abundant mounting points and cable anti-detachment design.
One Transmitter, Eight-Way Control for Seamless Multi-Camera Collaboration
A single transceiver (in TX mode) can connect to up to eight transceivers (in RX mode), each supporting remote control. This not only meets the HD monitoring needs of directors and directors of photography, but also lets camera operators and focus pullers remotely adjust settings and control the camera. For larger productions, the system supports up to five transmitters and 40 receivers working simultaneously, so multi-camera feeds are distributed reliably in complex on-set environments with no compromise on 4K image quality. 1
Smarter Frequency Management, Stronger Interference Resistance
Built from the ground up for multi-camera setups, the all-new Auto Channel 2.01lets DJI SDR Transmission 2 units recognize each other and intelligently allocate frequency bands, reducing manual planning. Paired with more accurate frequency-scan readouts and channel-conflict diagnostics, the devices can seamlessly hop frequencies based on the on-site environment. Even amid complex interference at close range, multiple transceivers (in TX mode) groups working on the same set can maintain stable, smooth video transmission.
Next Generation SDR
The SDR Transmission 2 transmits DCI 4K/60fps, 10-bit HDR, and H.265 video at bitrates up to 50 Mbps1 resulting in rich detail, smooth color transitions. It produces clear highlights and shadows, with consistent image quality across multiple cameras.
With a video transmission reaching up to 4 km, a reliable link can be established in various environments from open stadiums to dense mountain forests, and through demanding car-to-car shots or challenging FPV drone work.
Furthermore, with latency staying as low as 35 ms1, monitoring and remote commands, like focus pull and gimbal movement, can be kept responsive.
Fast Feed Switching and Professional Monitoring Tools
The DJI SDR Transmission 2 gets rid of the traditional process of re-booting, disconnecting, searching, and re-pairing frequencies. Users can simply tap on the transceiver (in RX mode) or in the Ronin app to instantly switch between different camera feeds, keeping on-set workflows one step ahead and dramatically reducing the time on-set. The transceiver supports outputting ultra-HD, low-latency video streams to professional monitors via SDI, HDMI, or DP, and connecting to a phone or tablet via USB-C for stable, high-bitrate mobile monitoring. The DJI Ronin app also supports mainstream monitoring assist tools, including LUT, focus peaking, waveform, and false color, for a more professional monitoring experience. In addition, the system supports PTP control for compatible cameras, allowing users to view and adjust aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, and to trigger photo capture and video recording through the app, as well as cameras with CEC control to enable virtual menu functionality.
Power it Your Way
The DJI SDR Video Transmission 2 supports multiple power options for on-set flexibility. Choose from industry-standard NP-F batteries supplying 6.8V to 8.4V or power delivery via standard PD-protocol chargers, with a USB-C output of 15V/3A for better compatibility. For those already using DJI RS 5, RS 4, RS 4 Pro, RS 3 Pro, Ronin 2, or Master Wheels2, the transceiver can be mounted directly on the gimbal and powered by it, no separate battery is required.
