Higher Education stays close to home

More than one in four parents (27%) will advise children going to university to attend a local college and live at home while studying.

The new research for elephant communications asked 2,000 adults what advice they would give children thinking of going to university in the future.

Almost one in two said they would advise their child to get a job while studying. Further, the proportion of parents that expect to financially support their children through university has increased over the last 12 months (to 20%).

The preliminary findings are from the latest edition of elephant’s Austerity Britain series, which explores continuity or change in consumer outlook on a range of issues over the last 12 months.
