Local team stands tall at National Radio Awards

Last night three of the elephant team joined the 107 Meridian FM team at the National Radio Production Awards in London.

Outside the working day, elephant team members volunteer time each week to support the location station, researching and producing documentaries, editing interviews and presenting the news. Part of this time has involved producing and presenting work on the station’s ‘Great Music Stories’ series – a new documentary series of one-hour specials, each a 60-minute special exploring in words and music the story of a major national or international band. It was this series that was shortlisted for the best music documentary category.

The station was one of just a few local stations shortlisted for the national awards evening. A selection of the interviews already presented on air from 2015 will be available to ‘listen again’ via the radio station website over the Christmas period.

Reflecting on the national awards night, Peter Monnery, MD at 107 Meridian FM commented: “Standing along side great brands and names in UK radio was a pivotal moment for us in our journey to provide our listeners with engaging, topical and creative radio; to push the boundaries and achieve results other stations can’t or won’t. Our music doumentaries sit alongside our acclaimed live sessions, concert broadcasts, business and news programming, and high profile attendance of music festivals. Last night was a proud moment which singled out one local star, Music Producer and presenter Guy Bellamy, yet he is just one in our talented team and represents how far the 107 Meridian FM has come in 2015 - Looking at our plans for 2016 the best is clearly yet to be revealed!”
