(VIDEO) Marriott timeshare claimants 'grateful' to ECC for successful outcome
Hampshire retirees, David and Georgina were looking to free themselves from a no-longer-required Marriott timeshare.
The couple enjoyed their time as Marriott owners, they are clear about that:
"After 20 years of happy timeshare ownership, we felt the time had come to get out," explains David, "but as expected, the timeshare company were uncooperative."
"Fortunately," continues Georgina, "we made contact with ECC (European Consumer Claims), who confirmed that we had been mis-sold and probably were entitled to compensation."
"ECC referred us to M1 Legal, Spanish lawyers specialising in timeshare issues," says David. It wasn't a quick process, as the likeable couple point out. "The progress of our case was slow, due to COVID. But after almost four years we have won the case and been awarded over £16,000!"
Georgina adds: "We are grateful to ECC and the team at M1 Legal for their help and support during the process, and for the happy outcome."
Greg Wilson, CEO of European Consumer Claims (ECC) comments: "For many Marriott owners, while the compensation award payments are welcome, the money is often not their main priority.
"We speak to Marriott owners every day and they are frequently surprised to find out that their contracts are illegal. This means we are usually able to help them escape from the unwanted commitment of their annual fees.
"The money they get back is a nice added bonus of course, but it is seldom the reason they get in touch."
