Press release -

Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust go live with trust wide programme to create a Digital Health Record

Unity provides Clinical Access to Health Records at the Point of Care

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) is based in the heart of Nottingham and provides services to over 2.5 million residents of Nottingham and it’s surrounding communities. The Trust also provides specialist services for a further 3-4 million people from across the region.

NUH has gone live with ‘Unity’ as part of a Trust-wide programme to create a Digital Health Record (DHR) constructed from scanning paper medical records and amalgamating patient demographic data, structured data from a multitude of hospital systems, and other information sources.

Following the pilot of DHR within the Children’s Hospital and other services treating young people, DHR Unity will go live across the Trust from April 2016.

“Having previously delivered some of the largest transformations of paper to electronic records within the NHS, Fortrus know that a successful outcome is not just about good software. Scanning, indexing and change management strategies to name a few, are key to ensuring a successful programme and maximising the adoption and benefits that a DHR can bring. Fortrus and NUH have worked in close partnership at all stages of the programme to ensure the desired outcomes are delivered”, commented Jon Atkin, Chief Commercial Officer at Fortrus.

About Fortrus

For over two decades, Fortrus has been helping paper-intensive organisations to collect, access, and act upon critical information through intuitive portals and mobile applications. We understand that the value of data extends beyond the database. The goal of our software is to serve the user, first and foremost.

We adopt a user centric approach to the development of our solutions, where design runs parallel to development, not after. Based on years of experience in user engagement and the development of innovative technology, we have pioneered the Genius Design process to ensure that our software provides a seamless user experience, enabling us to display more complex information more readily than through any other means. It empowers the user, providing them with access to huge amounts of data, but in an intuitive and effortless interface that just works, beautifully.

Unity emerged from research conducted with over 800 senior clinicians across multiple organisations. The findings of this research identified three key challenges when working in an data-intensive environment.

  1. 1) Fragmented computer systems and databases
  2. 2) Delays in gaining access to critical information.
  3. 3) Increasing pressures to find efficiencies.

Unity solves these problems by acting as a control layer, that whilst able to draw from multiple complex databases, means that we can develop flexible and bespoke user interfaces for minimal cost. The result is a software solution that suites the specific data-intensive needs of your organisation.
