Fuller’s Searches for Pub & Hotel Managers of the Future

Award-winning pub retailer Fuller, Smith & Turner has launched its first Hospitality Graduate Programme designed to find the brightest and best pub managers of the future.

The programme will train, challenge and develop graduates, focusing on Fuller’s four pillars: outstanding cask-conditioned ales, delicious fresh food, great wines and engaging service. They will develop a solid understanding of what creates a successful pub and build the skills to drive a Fuller’s business through quality, creativity and commercial flair. Within two years, graduates could be managing their own Fuller’s pub, with a turnover in excess of £1 million.

Jonathon Swaine, Operations Director at Fuller’s said: “There is huge competition to recruit great graduates in the hospitality sector and only by offering a first class training programme can you compete. The Fuller’s Hospitality Graduate Programme will be designed for the individual, equipping them with all the skills they need to run one of our premium pubs. Many people think working in hospitality is easy but you need to be creative, passionate, intelligent, bold and have a good grasp of business to excel in this field. That’s exactly what we’re looking for.”

Training is tailor-made to each candidate’s ability and aspirations, but will broadly consist of:

• Recruitment Assessment day

• Coming on Board (full induction period in a dedicated training house)

• Developing your skills (a great balance of support courses and practical experience)

• Joining the Management Trainee Programme (6-9 months of modular learning through tutored workshops, projects and in-house experience)

• Putting it into Practice (finessing skills, carrying out holds or reliefs, preparing for your first appointment)

• Building your Career (Becoming a General Manager. Building on your Fuller’s career)

Fuller’s owns 361 pubs across London and the South Coast, including iconic sites like The Churchill Arms, Kensington, The Wykeham Arms, Winchester and The Vintry in the City of London.

The first round of graduates will begin their training in October 2011 and candidates can apply at www.fullers.co.uk or visit the Careers at Fuller’s Facebook page.
