Hop on the train for Herts Big Weekend!
Govia Thameslink Railway is proud to be the Official Travel Partner of Herts Big Weekend 2020, celebrating the county’s wonderful, wide-ranging attractions.
As part of this celebration, taking place on April 4 and 5, hundreds of pairs of free tickets for Herts attractions are up for grabs and the registration for tickets opens on February 20.
With Thameslink, Great Northern and Southern trains serving dozens of towns and villages across Hertfordshire, it couldn’t be easier to reach one of the many jewels in the county’s crown.
Experiences on offer this year include visits to Knebworth House and Hatfield House, fun on the farm at Hatfield Park Farm and Willows Activity Farm, plus delicious meals and relaxing afternoon teas for two.
The Herts Big Weekend launched in 2016 to promote Hertfordshire’s incredible attractions and sights, and to encourage residents to discover how much there is to see and do in their home county. It forms part of national English Tourism Week and has been organised by Visit Herts.
Visit Herts Chief Executive, Deirdre Wells OBE said: “One of the most convenient and sustainable ways for residents to get around Hertfordshire is by train. Southern, Thameslink and Great Northern Railways service our county and we are pleased to announce that they are this year’s Official Travel Partner.”

We are delighted to be the Official Travel Partner of the Herts Big Weekend promoting exciting things to see and do within the county.”
Hertfordshire residents can apply for as many tickets as they like at www.hertsbigweekend.co.uk. The event will once again support The Family Holiday Association, with attractions donating tickets to the charity and giving great days out to families that are normally unable to take holidays together.

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) operates Thameslink, Great Northern, Southern and Gatwick Express services as follows:
- Thameslink – cross-London services between Bedford/Peterborough/Cambridge and Brighton/Horsham/Littlehampton/East Grinstead, and between Luton/St Albans and Sutton/Wimbledon/Rainham; plus services between London and Sevenoaks
