UPDATE to press release 'London Underground strikes to affect some Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern services'

Please note, since publication of this press release, industrial action by the RMT on the London Underground has been suspended although action by the ASLEF union is still set to take place.

The travel advice in this press release should therefore be discounted. Instead, customers are advised to check our websites for the latest information as it becomes available:

Strikes on the London Underground will close some stations served by Thameslink, Great Northern and Southern early in the morning and sometimes late at night next week, 5-8 November.

Passengers have been told to plan their journeys ahead, and also prepare for busier trains.

Industrial action is set to take place on the Tube between Friday, 1 November and Tuesday, 12 November. Stations managed by Transport for London, but served by Thameslink, Great Northern and Southern trains, will be impacted between 5 and 8 November.

The line between Finsbury Park and Moorgate, operated by Great Northern, will be closed until 8am and after 10.30pm on Tuesday, 5 November and Thursday, 7 November. Old Street will be closed to trains all day.

There will be no Great Northern services during these times at the following stations:

  • Moorgate
  • Old Street
  • Essex Road
  • Highbury & Islington
  • Drayton Park

Trains will also not run on the line until 8am on Wednesday, 6 November and Friday, 8 November.

During this period, trains will be diverted to London King’s Cross, or start and terminate at Finsbury Park.

Farringdon will be shut to Thameslink passengers during the same time.

On the Southern network, services will not call at Wembley Central or Harrow & Wealdstone on 5 and 7 November until 8.30am, or after 10.30pm. Services will restart at 8.30am the following morning.

Passengers will not be able to board trains at West Brompton station on Thursday, 7 November, after 9pm – but trains will continue to stop in order to let customers off until 10.30pm.
