Press release -

Planned Tube strikes to affect some Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern services

Next week’s planned Tube strikes will close or partly close eight stations on the Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern network, because some are operated by London Underground.

National Rail trains around London are also likely to be much busier than usual and journeys may take longer generally.

Passengers should check before they travel online at National Rail Enquiries. Changes may not appear until the day before travel.

Great Northern

On Sunday 7 January, passengers are being advised by London Underground to complete their journeys on the Piccadilly line by 17:30. Great Northern’s rail replacement bus service, put in place for essential engineering work (see press release), connects with the Piccadilly line at Cockfosters.

On Monday 8 and Wednesday 10 January, there will be no Great Northern services at the following stations:

  • Drayton Park
  • Highbury & Islington
  • Essex Road
  • Old Street
  • Moorgate

Trains which normally run to and from Moorgate will terminate and start at Finsbury Park.

On Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 January, services at these stations will start later than normal, with no trains before 07:30.

Thameslink

On Monday 8 and Wednesday 10 January, Farringdon station will open from 06:30 to 22:30 only.

On Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 January, Thameslink trains will not be able to serve Farringdon until 07:30.

Southern

On Monday 8 and Wednesday 10 January, there will be no Southern services at Wembley Central.

On Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 January, Southern trains will not be able to serve Wembley Central until 07:30.
