GreenCup help plant 10,000 Trees

For those of you who know the GreenCup story, you’ll know we love trees. It’s why we offset each machine bought by donating trees to the extremely worthwhile charity, Trees for Cities.

But as well as helping from the comfort of our office chairs, we also like to get our hands dirty. So, true to our proactive spirit, we participated in this year’s tree planting event, Plant to the Beat.

Hosted by Trees for Cities and held during National Tree Week, this fantastic event saw over 250 green-fingered volunteers plant an impressive 10,000 trees in Ealing’s Blondin Park.

Amongst the throng of tenacious tree planters were GreenCup’s very own Jeremy, Jeff and Alex, as well as Wyevale Garden Centre’s Food and Beverage Director, Jason Danciger, who took the opportunity to help plant some of the trees he’s contributed from all the GreenCup machines he’s bought.

And of course, where there’s GreenCup staff there’s GreenCup coffee – we rocked up with our coffee cart and kept the crowd going with mugs of our very own brew.

But it wasn’t just coffee that buoyed the volunteers up – live African drumming, jazz, DJs and choirs got us tapping our feet whilst we worked. Who would have thought planting to the beat would be so fun?!

It turns out there’s nothing better than helping to create a brand new urban woodland for everyone to enjoy. It was cold and it was back breaking, but the good cheer and digging-dancing made it a very special experience. Thank you to all those who took part and we hoped you liked the coffee!

Trees for Cities worked in partnership with Ealing Council and with support from the Mayor of London, as well as The Big Tree Plant’s partners, including Defra and the Forestry Commission.
