  • Southern and Thameslink passengers advised to avoid London Bridge this evening

    Southern and Thameslink passengers are being advised to avoid using London Bridge this evening after another hole was found underneath the railway tracks at Forest Hill. This means that capacity into London Bridge is severely reduced while Network Rail works to make repairs, with many services diverted, starting/terminating short of their destinations or cancelled.

    Southern has released details of the service it plans to run if the RMT’s five day conductors’ strike next week goes ahead. Talks are planned at Acas tomorrow, Wednesday and Southern says the RMT must call off the action by Thursday if it is to avoid a strike timetable on Monday.

    Members of the Brighter Uckfield group recently came together with Southern, and Sussex Community Rail Partnership (SCRP), to celebrate the group formally becoming station partner for Uckfield and adopting the station.

  • GTR asks Acas to help end unnecessary strike action

    Govia Thameslink Railway has asked Acas, the advisory, conciliation and arbitration service, to facilitate talks with the RMT and is calling on the union to call off its damaging five-day strike by conductors timed to start on 8 August.

  • Thameslink lengthens train in latest crowding figures

    A Thameslink train that appears in the Department for Transport's crowded trains list for 2015 was lengthened by 50% a few months later. And on the metro route, which can accommodate only eight-carriage services and has two trains in the crowded list, new trains with 40% more capacity will begin running later this year.
