Michelin-starred chefs and top sommeliers: a gourmet restaurant with numerous awards under its belt
Baltic Sea, Germany. For the 32nd year running, the Orangerie at the Maritim Seehotel Timmendorfer Strand has been awarded a star by the Michelin Guide. The gourmet restaurant’s wine list also received an award: for the first time, sommelier and restaurant manager Ralf Brönner has been named one of Germany’s ‘TOP50’ sommeliers, as selected by the Schlemmeratlas restaurant guide.
‘It’s simply brilliant that our concept has paid off. New faces on the team, combined with consistency and the very highest quality, is the Orangerie’s recipe for an excellent dining experience that will be remembered for a long time to come,’ explains hotel manager Manja Brandt.
For more than three decades, the Orangerie at the Maritim Seehotel has been known in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, for its top-class cuisine, holding a Michelin star every year since 1994. Last year, top chef Simone Melis (32) successfully retained the Michelin star for the Orangerie, alongside her skilled team, which includes culinary expert and master chef Thomas Lemke (62) and standout pastry chef Taro Bünemann (38). For many years now, ‘TOP50’ sommelier Ralf Brönner (61) has been selecting the perfect wine pairings from a range of over 4,000 wines. Working with sommelier Britta Minder (57), he is constantly refining the selection – from internationally renowned top-quality wines to distinctive finds from small wineries. The individually tailored wine pairings complement the menus and turn a dinner into a harmonious overall experience.
Maritim Hotels are product champions
A recent award confirms that exceptional guest experiences are a hallmark not only of the Orangerie’s Michelin-starred cuisine, but also of Maritim Hotels as a whole. Earlier this year, the hotel group was named industry winner in the ‘Premium Hotels’ category in the independent study ‘Product Champions 2026’, conducted by the ServiceValue Institute in collaboration with the daily newspaper DIE WELT. The study is based on customers’ opinions as to which companies and brands particularly impress and inspire with their products. ‘As an owner-managed German hotel chain, trust, reliability and excellent service are our top priorities. This applies to our in-house hospitality facilities and to our conference and accommodation services. We are therefore particularly delighted to have taken first place,’ explains Erik van Kessel, Managing Director for Operations at Maritim Hotelgesellschaft mbH.
Cuisine, wine and hospitality as a complete experience
Those hoping to be impressed by the quality, service and exquisite culinary experiences on offer at the Orangerie can choose from a wide variety of different set menus, with or without wine pairings, in addition to enjoying several specials.
