MB Energy has successfully completed a methanol bunkering trial of TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 7 at the Ostseekai Cruise Terminal in the Port of Kiel. The operation marks an important operational step in the companies’ cooperation on lower carbon marine fuels and underlines MB Energy’s ambition to support the maritime sector’s transition to more sustainable operations.
Mabanaft plans to convert four tanks at its Hamburg terminal for methanol storage by 2027, facilitating low-carbon methanol imports. This multi-million-euro project aims to support decarbonization across shipping and transportation, enhancing sustainable fuel accessibility for customers.
German energy company Mabanaft has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with cruise operator TUI Cruises to supply green methanol. The partnership aims to make the cruise industry more climate-friendly, starting with a methanol delivery for the Mein Schiff 7. TUI Cruises plans to add more methanol-ready cruise ships to its fleet in Germany.
