Alderman Audrey Wales MBE elected to board of iESE
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council will be represented on a UK-wide level with the appointment of Alderman Audrey Wales MBE to the board of an organisation which strives for transformation and innovation in local government.
Alderman Wales was elected as a board member to iESE – a not for profit social enterprise overseen by councils, fire and police authorities, and other public organisations across the UK.
Speaking following the announcement, she said:
“It is a great privilege to be invited to represent the people of Mid and East Antrim on an organisation as prestigious as iESE.
“I am honoured to have been elected along with another two public sector representatives this year, and look forward to working closely with my fellow board members.
“Local government and public services throughout the UK have been faced with huge challenges to their resources, their strategic planning and their future delivery during the COVID-19 crisis, so there has never been a more important time to be part of the work to improve and innovate.”
Dr Andrew Larner, Chief Executive of iESE, said:
“I congratulate Alderman Wales on her election and we are very excited to have her on board.
“iESE is a not for profit social enterprise dedicated to improving local public service and reducing its cost.
“Approximately 50 organisations, councils, fire authorities and a police and crime commissioner, are all owners.
“Annually they elect Directors to the company and this year they elected three candidates.
“It is very important to iESE that we are led by our elected politicians in everything that we do and Alderman Wales will be an excellent addition to the company board.”
