Council waste collectors show true spirit of being MEAStars

Refuse collectors in Mid and East Antrim Borough Council are being praised by the public for their generosity and good nature.

Two refuse collectors in particular went above and beyond their usual duties last week by helping a resident in Ballymena change a flat tyre.

Mark O’Loughlin and Robin McIlhagga, who work with the Ballymena Waste Team, were on duty last week when they encountered a lady with some car trouble.

The Good Samaritan nature of both men immediately kicked in and they helped her get the tyre replaced and continued on with their shift.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, residents in Mid and east Antrim have been showing their appreciation for our frontline services by leaving heart-warming messages on their bins, and this recent action has shown they truly deserve the recognition.
